We helped to convert two neighbouring shop units in Mayfair, into a single shop unit across two floors
Hedonism Wine’s mission statement is to be “the best wine shop in the world”, reflecting an absolute desire for design and product excellence, and a new concept in wine retail experience.
PTP were as Quantity Surveyors in the mid 2011 to develop plans to convert two neighbouring shop units in Mayfair, into a single shop unit across two floors. PTP worked closely with Universal Design Studio, the appointed architects, and were responsible for Quantity Surveying services throughout the design, procurement and implementation process.
The project was extremely fast track with a projected opening in mid 2012, and to allow the necessary speed of development with contractors, a construction management approach was adopted.
Wholesale demolition of the internal structure was required, along with the removal of a significant amount of asbestos, before new brick walls were built over the majority of the internal surfaces. New services were required throughout, with a particularly high specification of new air conditioning and humidification to provide a stable environment for the wine of 16°C.
The fit out also incorporated a significant contract for the internal furniture to display the stock, and all the back of house systems required for a high value retail environment.
